Download the free app and compare the three step grayscale on your Apple device to the same grayscale on this site when viewed on your HDTV. If the "color" of the gray scale does not match, experiment with the modes and color temp options on your HDTV to find the one that comes closest to matching. Getting a perfect match requires professional calibration.
This Free app is as close to accurate as possible. Our lab tests show the new iPad to be reasonably close to accurate color as is – all other Apple devices will benefit from Calibration using the Pro version of the app and approved Colorimeters.
